Karthi-Jyothika’s Upcoming Movie Thambi
Thambi is an upcoming 2019 Tamil-language action family thriller film. Jeetu Joseph of Drishyam fame directed the movie. Viacom18 Studios produced the film in association with Parallel Mind Productions. Karthi, Jyothika, Sathyaraj, Nikhila Vimal star in the lead roles along with veteran actress Sowcar Janaki making a return to Tamil movies. Govind Vasantha scored the music of the film. Thambi is also dubbed into Telugu-language titled ‘Donga.’ Thambi is releasing worldwide along with Telugu version Donga on 201 December 2019.

Plot
Parvathi is the eldest of the two children of Sathyanantham, a political leader. She is missing her brother Saravanan very badly who has left home 15 years ago. He was her only reason for joy and solace in that place. One day they find a clue about the whereabouts of Saravanan who have gone on to become a fraud known by many names. Saravanan returns to the house, and many of the family members doubt his identity, including Parvathi. Soon, strange events begin to happen, with everyone questioning his identity. Is he the real Saravanan or not and what events occur in the meanwhile is the rest of the plot.
Teaser
On November 15, the first look of the film got released, and the makers announced the title as Thambi and Donga in Tamil and Telugu languages, respectively. Subsequently, the teaser of the film got released on the following day with Suriya releasing the Tamil version and Akkineni Nagarjuna in Telugu. The teaser received a positive response with Nagarjuna quoting that Karthi will score another blockbuster with Thambi after Kaithi.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Karthi and Jyothika would share screen space for the first time in a movie directed by Jeetu Joseph. The film went into production in the second half of the year and completed its entire shoot in one schedule, which lasted only two months. After completing its post-production works, the movie is all set to release on December 20, 2019, in Tamil and Telugu languages.
Movie Review
Thambi is a gripping thriller with a lot of twists and turns and lovely family sequences. The movie starts with a pleasant note with some predictable sequences in the first half, which ends on an exciting twist. The second half is the king with unpredictable trademark twists and turns of Jeetu Joseph. The climax twist is sure to blow up the audience’s mind.
Karthi is fantastic in the movie with an excellent show from Jyothika and Sathyaraj. Nikhila Vimal looks gorgeous & impresses with her role too. The cinematography by R.D Rajasekhar is superb. Govind Vasantha’s bgm is another highlight in the movie. Jeetu Joseph finally comes back with an excellent one after Memories and Drishyam. Karthi continues his winning streak with perfect followup after Kaithi.
Verdict: A fabulous entertaining family thriller.
