Seeru is an upcoming Tamil-language action thriller film of 2020. Rathina Shiva of Rekka fame has directed the movie which is bankrolled by Ishari K. Ganesh. The film stars Jiiva, Riya Suman in the lead with Navdeep as the antagonist. D. Imman composed the music for the film. Prasanna Kumar has handled the cinematography for Seeru. The movie has completed its post-production works long back & has theatrically released last week.

Plot
From the initial glimpses of the film, it looks like a complete action movie with a love track & sister emotion. The director has showcased the hero & antagonist in yet another cat & mouse game similar to the likes of his previous film Rekka starring Vijay Sethupathi. The exact plot will be known after the film release.

The Official trailer got launched on 23 January 2020 on Sony Music South YouTube channel. The trailer cut assures the film to be a complete mass action movie with a lot of thrilling elements. Jiiva has gone over a makeover for the role & the two antagonists Navdeep & Varun look deadlier. The trailer has clocked in over 1.5 million views to date.

The first single of Seeru got released on 2 December 2019. The soul-stirring melody is sung by the viral singing sensation Nochipatti Thirumoorthy. Parvathy has penned the lyrics. Sevvanthiye has become a grooving melody for everyone since its release with over 2 million views on YouTube alone.
Vaa Vasuki
Vaa Vasuki is a love track featuring on the lead pair Jiiva & Riya Suman. Shivam Mahadevan has given the vocals for the song with lyrics by Vivek. The chemistry between the lead pair has made the song much more special. The Video song has already garnered over 1.4 million views to date.

Seeru was initially scheduled for its theatrical release on 20 December 2019. Owing to immense competition from other big movies, it got postponed to a later date. After finishing its post-production works & censor formalities, Seeru is all set to release on 7 February 2020.

Seeru Movie Review
Seeru is a racy mass commercial film with an emotional touch & a message. The first half is good with speedy screenplay & terrific action blocks. Jiiva is remarkable as an action hero. Varun stands out in the first half as “Malli.” The faceoff b/w Jiiva & Varun is the highlight. Sentimental scenes of Jiiva & his sister work out well. Interval block is lit.
The second half is also pacy & emotional with a convincing flashback. Jiiva & Varun’s equation is very engaging & the flashback scenes of 12th standard girls are the main highlight of the second half. Imman songs & bgm are a big plus. Riya Suman impresses on her debut with limited screen time. Director Rathina Siva manages to combine all the commercial elements with some thoughtful ideas. Navdeep too shines in the 2 hrs of this mass entertainer.
Overall, Seeru is an expeditious commercial entertainer with some exciting twists & turns. Jiiva is back as a commercial action hero & Varun’s role will be one of the major highlights of the movie.

Seeru Weekend Box-Office Collections
Seeru had a good opening at the Tamil Nadu box-office on day 1. The movie is getting impressive reports from the target audience with many quoting it as the comeback movie for Jiiva.
Seeru opened well by grossing around ₹ 2.05 crore from Tamil Nadu alone. It added ₹ 18 lakhs on Day-1 from Chennai city alone. The film is continuing its excellent performance with fair occupancy allover.
The 3-days opening weekend collections of Seeru is around ₹ 8 crores. The film has grossed ₹ 55 lakhs from Chennai city alone from the first three days & is debuted at No.2 in the capital just behind Vaanam Kottattum.
The movie is all set to emerge as a box-office hit in the coming days.
