Under the production house of Maddock films which released a series of hit movies like Cocktail, Badlapur, Hindi Medium, and Stree, Roohi is an upcoming Hindi – language, Indian film directed by Hardik Mehta and produced by Dinesh Vijayan. Initially scheduled to be released in June 2020, it was released on 11 March 2021 owing to the COVID-19 situation in India. Rajkumar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, and Varun Sharma are the main cast of the movie while Pankaj Tripathi was in the supporting cast.
Roohi Polt:
The background of the film is set in a fictional town in North India, it’s a tale of two small-town boys, played by Rajkumar Rao(Bhatura) and Varun Sharma(Kattani) coming across a girl named Roohi, played by Janvi Kapoor.
Strange and unfortunate circumstances they get stuck with Roohi in a forest. As the plot unveils, we find that Bhaura falls in love with Roohi, as the story goes further we discover that Roohi has a dissociative personality disorder and her other personality is Afza, for whom Kattani falls. Oblivious to the fact that they both are the same person.
Since Bhaura is in love with Roohi, he tries to get rid of the personality of Afza and Kattani tries to get rid of the personality of Roohi. A crazy, madcap journey follows as both of them fight for their respective love interests, they tussle against each other, always attempting to outdo the other. A proper mix of absurdity and craziness that would be relished by the spectators.
Evaluating Roohi Movie :
Initially, the movie was supposed to be released as Roohi Afzana, later changed to Roohi. Fans were able to get a glimpse and gist of the movie via the actors’ Instagram account, where they kept them updated.
Since the first franchise, Stree was able to shatter chauvinism and misogyny, two social evils that pertain in society via a humorous rollercoaster of horror-comedy, fans are excited to yet another comedy that pokes fun at the horror genre, especially the stereotypical horror ideas and is adored by the audience for its quirkiness.
Roohi Movie Release Date :
Director Hansal Mehta in an interview made it obvious that it was a VFX – heavy film. Janvi Kapoor playing a witch, abducting brides on their wedding nights, while they are on their honeymoon, was supposed to look as authentic as possible not like in earlier Bollywood films where it was narrowed down to a cut – copy – paste job thus it took time in editing, precisely VFX based. The lockdown allowed the makers to work on it and make it look more realistic.
