Movie Story
The film is set in the year 1995. Ramarao(Ravi Teja) is a revenue officer who does not allow corruption. One fine day, he meets his ex girlfriend Malini(Rajisha Vijayan) who reveals to him that her husband has gone missing and asks him to help her. Ramarao starts his investigation and finds out that many people in his village have also gone missing and all this is related to red sandalwood smuggling. Who is behind all this and how did Ramarao solve the case is the crux of the story.

Movie Review
Ramarao On Duty’ title sounds like an out and out masala film but the theme is a serious one. The director tries to fill the first half with few family scenes. Ramarao gets married another girl than his original love. He also tries to find out details of 20 youth miss from the village. In this process he confronts with the local police officer Jammi Murali ( Tottempudi Venu) and his SP. All the leads point to the sandalwood mafia which has been managed by a person named Viraz. Second half deals with how Ramarao takes on the culprits.
Starting from looks to the sequences, we cannot feel the freshness in the story and the narration. Raviteja did just like he did in other roles earlier. Even the action blocks and songs give a feel of monotony.
Production values of the movie are decent and so was the camera work which showcases the 90’s set up well. The dialogues are decent and so was the production design. Music by Sam Cs is one huge disappointment as not the songs or his BGM has impressed one bit.
Coming to the director Sarath Mandava, he has done a pathetic job with his debut movie. He did not use Ravi Teja properly. His direction is aimless as the film has no entertainment, action, and drama. It is bland and tests the patience.
Venu Thottempudi came back to acting after a long gap. His performance is not impressive, and neither is his character. He was given the role of a careless corrupt police officer who is supposed to act funny at times. The whole track is disappointing and even the slang also fails.
