JAaNu is a Telugu-language romantic drama film of 2020. The film is officially based on the 2018 Tamil blockbuster ’96. C. Prem Kumar, who helmed the Tamil version has directed the Telugu remake too. Dil Raju of Sri Venkateswara Creations has produced the film. Sharwanand & Samantha Akkineni are starring in the lead roles of the Telugu version reprising the roles of Vijay Sethupathi & Trisha from the original. JAaNu is scheduled to release worldwide this weekend.

Plot
The basic plot is a true love story between Ram & Jaanu starting from their school days. Ram has become a travel photographer & he accidentally comes across his school on his way back. He remembers his school friends & plans a reunion to meet all of them after 20 years. The film revolves around on how Ram & Jaanu fell in love during their school days & how their life has changed after they unexpectedly got separated.
Teaser
The Official title poster was revealed on 7 January 2020. Two days later, the first glimpse of the movie got released which has met with tremendous response from the movie lovers. The teaser brilliantly cut with symphonic music giving it a poetic feel. It has gained over 5 million views to date.

The Official trailer got launched on 29 January 2020 through a special event in Hyderabad. The trailer is the continuation of the teaser packed with Telugu songs and the bgm of the album. The chemistry between has worked out very well & is sure to recreate the magic similar to that of the original. The trailer clocked in over 3 million views in a single day & is nearing 6.5 million views.

Dil Raju brought the remake rights of ’96 & planned to make the Telugu version of it with their nativity. Sharwanand & Samantha were selected to reprise the lead roles with Samantha initially rejecting it after her first narration & accepting it the second time. Principal photography started in July 2019 in Kenya with Sharwanand for showcasing his character of a travel photographer. Later it got shot in various parts of Vizag & Hyderabad before wrapping up in mid-October 2019.
After being in post-production for more than 3 months, Jannu is all set to take the audience back to their school days with their poetic heart-touching love story from 7 February 2020.
JAaNu Movie Review
Jaanu film remake of ’96. The movie starts off well with Sharwanand’s introduction scenes followed by his school days recalling episodes leading to a reunion. The flashback scenes work out well with junior Jaanu & Sharwa recreating the magic. A bit slow-paced first half ends with a beautiful interval block.
The second half also starts on the same note with terrific performances from the lead cast. The heart-touching moments throughout backed by outstanding music makes it an excellent watch for many. The climax is beautifully crafted & will be a memorable one.
Sharwa’s performance is out of the box and Samantha as Jaanu is equally good as in the original. Director Prem Kumar becomes successful in recreating the magic of the original for the Telugu audience. Govind Vasantha’s music is a big plus. Overall, Jaanu is a beautiful recreation of an emotional love story backed by extraordinary performances & mellifluous music. It is a must-watch for those who didn’t watch ’96 & will be a good one for others.

Jaanu opened with favourable reviews & great word of mouth from critics & audience. The occupancy increased with after every show with superb evening & night shows. The movie collected more than initially expected shares in AP/TS.
